Al Maryah Island

Khadamat, a joint venture between International Investment Financial Corporation and Serco, a leading international service company, is a facilities management company set up in 2007 to manage the new UAE University campus in Al Ain. It has a broad brief, with responsibility for estate management, security, safety, cleaning, waste management, service desk departments and timetabling - that includes preparation of academic timetables and the booking of rooms for lectures, events and exams. Staff maintain university security 24 hours a day, issuing access control cards to staff and students, responding to incidents and monitoring the campus through mobile and foot patrols and various alarm and surveillance systems.
Paris-Sorbonne University, Abu Dhabi
Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, which opened in the capital of the UAE in 2006, was the first French higher-education institution to open in the Gulf and the first move outside France for one of the world’s oldest universities. The large, purpose-built campus, close to the heart of the capital on Al Reem Island, features the latest teaching and recreational facilities and offers the same humanities and social sciences programs available to students in Paris, taught by the same lecturers. Also available is a year-long intensive French course for students with no prior knowledge of the language.

UAE University, the first comprehensive national university in the Emirates, was established in Al Ain by Sheikh Zayed, founder of the UAE, in 1976. Since then it has expanded from the original four faculties - science, education, business and economics and humanities and social science - to nine, including information technology, medicine and health, Shari’ah and law, agricultural sciences and engineering. More than 12,000 students, 75 per cent of whom are women, study at UAEU, which aims to educate leaders and future professionals for all sectors of the economy. They are taught by a faculty of 672 professors, associate professors and lecturers.

Zayed Sports City
Zayed University Abu Dhabi was established in 1998 to educate the nation’s women on two campuses, in the capital and in Dubai. Since then it has evolved and expanded, with more than 7,000 male and female students from 19 countries studying on three campuses. The university offers a wide range of courses. Undergraduate programs, from which students emerge culturally aware and bilingual in English and Arabic, include bachelor degrees in arts and sciences, business, education, IT and media. Graduate programs offer a range of master’s degrees in subjects including healthcare administration, diplomacy and international affairs, museum studies and business administration.
